Autograph manuscript letters, including ALS, coded letters, and transcriptions, written by Pietro Grimani to Carlo Ruzzini, Venetian ambassador to the United Provinces of the Netherlands, during negotiations ending the War of Spanish Succession. The letters report on English affairs, particularly the policies of Bolingbroke affecting limitation of Austrian expansion in the Peace of Utrecht. Three letters are laid in.

Henry St. John Bolingbroke was born in Battersea in 1678. He was educated at Eton and Oxford. He married the daughter of Sir Henry Winchcomb.
